Waiting (Too much!)

He sits in a bus,
in a crowded nest
Of laymen and workers who try their best;
To save few rupees from what they get
From hours and hours of toil and sweat

Inside the bus,
In the cooking heat,
He feels a soothing, cool breeze;
making his mood and mind free,
to think of his beloved he’s going to meet…

But this waiting seems eternal!
He angrily feels;
With this dawdling line of traffic;
Will it ever cease?
How many hours to spend on this seat?
When shall my heart get what it needs?

As he rushes through the crowd
In a great pace;
His heart begins to pound a race;
Will her beloved eyes meet
their destined place
in the eyes of a worker’s weary face?

Will she be there?
Will she?
Or won’t she?
Will she be there as she promised to be?

He sighs…
As he sees…

Along the path,
beside the lake…
her lovely eyes
are waiting for me…

An epilogue to waiting…

He feared the most;
He was already late.
To give an excuse,
Just for her sake:

‘Why did you keep me
Waiting in this place?’
Was the question she never
Was able to make

As she saw the answer
In the man’s face,
Where love had replaced
The guilt’s space…

Waiting

When and where
shall I see the eyes
that left no sign
of saying goodbye?

Is there a mistake
in what I’ve done?
To think again
that I hadn’t come
here alone to meet someone
who would be waiting for me?

But all I see
along the path
beside the lake…

No one waits
beneath the trees
for me.

What dreams I made?
What kept my faith
Hours of wait
that filled my days…
for years and years
For whose sake?

Doesn’t this waiting make
me wide awake
to see the truth
before it’s too late?

That I can’t be waiting forever,
As it should be now or never.

Will he?
Or won’t he?
Keep the solemn promise
he made to me?
